7Artisans' updated budget manual-focus 35mm prime, available in many mirrorless mounts.

The 7Artisans 35mm f/1.4 II for Nikon Z mount is a manual-focus prime for APS-C Nikon Z bodies (Z50, Zfc, Z30), designed as an affordable fast prime for the entry Z DX system. This is the Mark II APS-C version — 7Artisans also produces a Mark III version with a different optical formula (7 elements in 5 groups) that covers full-frame Z bodies; this master covers the Mark II APS-C design. Manual focus only; there is no autofocus motor. The image circle covers APS-C sensors only — mounting on full-frame Nikon Z bodies activates crop mode.

The optical design uses 6 elements in 5 groups. Nine aperture blades produce smooth bokeh at wider apertures. The 52mm filter thread is shared with several Nikon DX lenses, enabling filter carry-over in a Nikon Z DX kit. At 228g the lens is moderate for a fast prime on compact Z DX bodies. Minimum focus distance of 0.33m suits informal close-up framing. The lens is manual focus only — there is no autofocus motor. The aperture ring provides direct tactile control. The image circle covers APS-C sensors; full-frame Z bodies will activate DX crop mode.
