Blackmagic's cinema camera with Super 35 6K sensor and Canon EF mount — designed for professional filmmaking.
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 is the second-generation BMPCC 6K, released approximately 2022, featuring a Super 35 (23.10 × 12.99mm) sensor with 6K resolution at up to 50fps. The G2 redesigns the original 6K body: a tilting 5-inch LCD replaces the fixed screen, the battery changes from Canon LP-E6 to Sony NP-F570 (the industry-standard battery for cinema accessories), and the optional Blackmagic EVF is supported. Records Blackmagic RAW and Apple ProRes.
Super 35 sensor recording up to 6144×3456 (6K) at 50fps. Blackmagic RAW at Constant Bitrate (3:1 through 12:1) and Constant Quality (Q0-Q5). Also records Apple ProRes in multiple flavours. Tilting 5-inch touchscreen. NP-F570 battery slot (Sony L-series). Approximately 1,200g body weight. CFast 2.0 + SD UHS-II card slots plus USB-C 3.1 for external media. Canon EF mount. Dual native ISO 400/3200.
The G2 is not a sensor refresh — the same Super 35 sensor and codec support from the original 6K is retained. The G2 value is the redesigned body: the tilting LCD enables low-angle and overhead compositions without an external monitor; the NP-F570 battery enables the extended batteries and dummy-battery power solutions standard in cinema accessories; and the EVF support adds optical viewfinder option for outdoor use. The G2 is not the 6K Pro — it lacks the motorised ND filters and the 1500-nit screen.
On the used market the BMPCC 6K G2 is available at professional cinema camera pricing. Condition checks: Canon EF mount condition and electronic contacts, NP-F570 battery health, CFast and SD card slot contacts, tilting LCD hinge, and sensor dust. The body weight (~1,200g) reflects the cinema-body chassis — factor cage or shoulder mount weight when planning rigs. Compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses.
