Blackmagic's cinema camera with built-in ND filters, brighter screen, and Super 35 6K sensor for Canon EF.
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro launched in 2021 as an upgraded version of the BMPCC 6K, adding built-in motorised ND filters, a brighter HDR touchscreen, and an optional EVF. It addresses the main practical limitations of the original 6K.
The Super 35mm 6K sensor records Blackmagic RAW and ProRes at up to 60fps with 13 stops of dynamic range. Built-in 2, 4, and 6-stop ND filters — a major practical improvement eliminating the need for external variable ND. Dual native ISO at 400 and 3200.
Canon EF mount. 5-inch 1500-nit HDR touchscreen — much brighter than the 6K G2. CFast 2.0 and USB-C recording. Mini XLR audio with phantom power. Optional EVF with 1280x960 OLED. Active cooling for extended recording. DaVinci Resolve Studio included.
Available used at mid-range prices. The built-in ND filters are the killer feature — transformative for run-and-gun cinema work. The optional EVF adds cost. Check ND filters for correct calibration. The 6K G2 is cheaper without ND. Excellent for independent filmmakers who need NDs.
