Bronica's medium format ETR system camera — 6x4.5cm format with interchangeable lenses and backs.
The Zenza Bronica ETRS was released in October 1978 as a 6×4.5 (645 format) medium-format SLR. ETR mount — interchangeable lenses via the Bronica ETR bayonet system. Seiko electronic leaf shutter: 8s to 1/500, T, B. Flash sync at all speeds. Interchangeable film backs, viewfinders, and motor drives.
6×4.5 (645) medium format SLR, 120/220 film. Bronica ETR mount for interchangeable lenses. Seiko electronic leaf shutter: 8s to 1/500, T, Bulb. Flash sync at all shutter speeds (leaf shutter advantage). Interchangeable viewfinders, film backs, and motor drives/grips. Mechanical 1/500 available without battery.
The ETRS uses a leaf shutter in the lens rather than a focal-plane shutter: leaf shutters allow flash synchronisation at all speeds (not just the sync speed limit of focal-plane shutters), enabling fill-flash and studio strobe use without shutter-speed restrictions. The 6×4.5 format provides a larger negative than 35mm while remaining more portable than 6×6 or 4×5.
On the used market the Bronica ETRS is affordable as a 645 medium-format system camera. Condition checks: leaf shutter timing at all speeds, film back seals (light-tight), viewfinder condition, film advance mechanism, ETR mount lens coupling. Leaf shutter sync at all speeds. Compatible with Bronica ETR-mount lenses.
