Bronica's 645 standard lens — the leaf-shutter Zenzanon-PE 75mm f/2.8 for the ETR system.
The Bronica Zenzanon-PE 75mm f/2.8 is the standard lens for the Bronica ETR 6x4.5 medium-format system. It is part of the later PE generation of Zenzanon optics for the ETRSi era, following the earlier MC and EII versions of the normal lens. On the 645 frame a 75mm is the normal focal length, roughly matching the diagonal of the negative.
This manual-focus lens mounts on the Bronica ETR leaf-shutter bayonet and provides a focal length of 75mm with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. It uses the in-lens Seiko leaf shutter common across the ETR range, giving flash synchronisation at all shutter speeds. Optical construction, weight and filter size are omitted here rather than presented without verification.
As the normal lens for the format, the 75mm renders a natural perspective close to how the eye sees, making it a general-purpose choice for portraits, street, travel and everyday subjects. Its f/2.8 aperture is fast for medium format and allows shallower depth of field and lower-light shooting. It was the lens most ETRSi kits shipped with as standard.
On the used market the PE 75mm is very common because it was the default kit lens, so prices are generally moderate. Check the leaf shutter fires evenly at all speeds, inspect the glass for haze, fungus and separation, and confirm the aperture blades are clean and dry. Verify the coupling to the ETRSi body and back and check the barrel and mount for wear from heavy use.
