Canon's earlier budget 28-105mm — same as ID 1149, variable f/4-5.6 with USM.
The Canon EF 28-105mm f/4-5.6 is Canon's budget standard zoom from the early 1990s covering 28-105mm on full-frame with micro-USM motor. It was commonly bundled with consumer EOS film cameras as an affordable all-purpose zoom lens.
Optically basic — acceptable centre sharpness at mid-apertures with soft edges typical of budget zooms. The variable f/4-5.6 aperture is slow. Micro-USM provides quieter AF than DC motor versions but without full-time manual override capability.
Canon EF mount with 58mm filter thread at approximately 210g — very lightweight for any zoom. Full-frame coverage with plastic construction throughout including the lens mount. Minimum focus distance approximately 50cm for moderate close-up capability.
Essentially free used — one of Canon's most basic zooms. Any modern kit zoom dramatically outperforms it in sharpness, stabilisation, and build quality. The 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM version with macro mode is slightly better. Only useful at throwaway prices.
