Canon's budget EF standard-to-tele zoom — basic 35-105mm with USM at entry pricing.
The Canon EF 35-105mm f/4.5-5.6 USM is one of Canon's most basic EF-mount zooms — providing 35-105mm coverage with micro-USM motor at the cheapest possible price point. It was a common kit option with entry-level film bodies.
Optically very basic — acceptable centre sharpness at mid-apertures only. The variable f/4.5-5.6 is very slow. Micro-USM provides quieter AF than non-USM but no full-time manual override. Adequate for casual photography only.
Canon EF mount with 58mm filter thread. Very lightweight at approximately 210g. Full-frame coverage. Plastic construction. Minimum focus distance approximately 85cm. No image stabilisation.
Essentially free used. Any modern zoom dramatically outperforms it. The slow aperture and basic optics limit usefulness. Only worth using at throwaway prices or if already owned.
