Canon's modern 85mm f/1.4 with IS — the first Canon 85mm f/1.4 with image stabilisation.

The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is a fast portrait prime from Canon's L series, released approximately 2017. One of the few fast portrait primes from any manufacturer with built-in Optical Image Stabilisation (IS). Canon EF mount.

f/1.4 maximum aperture. 85mm focal length (full-frame). L-series IS (approximately 4EV). Ring-type USM AF motor. L-series weather sealing. At approximately 950g. 77mm filter thread. Full-frame. Canon EF mount.

The inclusion of IS in the 85mm f/1.4 is unusual — most fast portrait primes rely on the wide aperture for shutter speed rather than optical stabilisation. Canon's IS optimises for portrait work, compensating for camera movement without overly correcting for subject movement. Ring USM provides fast and quiet AF. L-series weather sealing.
