Canon's EF-M standard kit zoom — 29-88mm equiv with IS and STM for the discontinued M-mount system.
The Canon EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM launched in 2012 alongside the EOS M as the standard kit zoom for Canon's EF-M mirrorless system. It covers 29-88mm equivalent with IS stabilisation and STM motor for smooth, quiet video AF.
Optically adequate — sharp enough in the centre for general use. IS provides stabilisation. STM motor enables smooth AF transitions during video — a key feature for Canon's mirrorless video experience. Adequate for beginners and casual shooters.
Canon EF-M mount with 52mm filter thread. Approximately 210g — compact. APS-C coverage. IS stabilisation. STM motor. Minimum focus distance 25cm. Plastic construction.
Very cheap used. EF-M mount is discontinued — Canon moved to RF. The EF-M lens selection was always limited. Only useful with existing EF-M bodies. The RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is the RF-mount replacement. Check for smooth zoom operation.
