Canon's final professional film SLR — the EOS 1V, the last flagship Canon film camera.
The Canon EOS-1V is Canon's ultimate professional 35mm film SLR, introduced in 2000 and produced until 2018. It represents the culmination of Canon's EOS autofocus development and was the primary camera of professional photojournalists, sports, and wildlife photographers through the film-to-digital transition era.
The EOS-1V uses a 45-point AF system across a wide frame area, provides up to 8.5fps with the optional PB-E2 Power Drive Booster, offers 100% viewfinder coverage, and is sealed against dust and water. It accepts all Canon EF lenses with full electronic communication. Film transport is highly reliable with Canon's precision metering and TTL flash system.
The 45-point AF system was unprecedented among film SLRs at launch and remained the standard by which professional AF was judged. Many photographers continue to use the EOS-1V for film photography today for its exceptional handling, reliability, and access to the full Canon EF lens ecosystem. The body-only design means lenses and functionality apply equally to digital EOS-1 bodies.
Test the film transport mechanism by dry-firing without film to check shutter and drive smoothness. Test all AF points for accurate focus. Check battery contacts for corrosion in both the body and optional power booster. Verify metering accuracy across exposure modes. A test roll of film is the definitive check for transport and metering integrity.
