Canon's popular entry DSLR from 2006 — 10.1MP with DIGIC II and the first Rebel with sensor cleaning.
The Canon EOS 400D (Rebel XTi) launched in 2006 as a significant consumer DSLR update, increasing resolution to 10.1MP and adding Canon's first integrated sensor cleaning system. It was one of the best-selling DSLRs of its era.
The 10.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor delivers good results for 2006. 9-point AF with cross-type centre. 3fps burst. Integrated sensor dust cleaning — a first for Canon consumer DSLRs. 2.5-inch LCD at 230k dots. DIGIC II processor.
Compact body at 510g. SD card slot. Built-in flash. EF and EF-S lens compatibility. No Live View or video — predates these features. Optical viewfinder with 95% coverage.
Available used for almost nothing. The sensor cleaning was innovative at launch. 10.1MP and 2.5-inch LCD feel very dated. The 450D improved significantly. A piece of Canon DSLR history at throwaway prices.
