Canon's mid-range APS-C DSLR with Dual Pixel AF, top LCD, and secondary dial.
The Canon EOS 77D was launched in 2017 as a mid-range option between the Rebel series and the 80D. It borrowed the 80D's 45-point all-cross-type AF and Dual Pixel AF while adding a top LCD information panel and secondary control dial, giving it a more enthusiast-oriented handling experience.
Key features include the 24.2MP APS-C sensor with Dual Pixel AF, 45-point all-cross-type viewfinder AF, top LCD panel, vari-angle touchscreen, 6fps burst, 1080p video, and built-in Wi-Fi with Bluetooth. The body is polycarbonate with a comfortable grip.
The 77D sits in an unusual position between the 800D/Rebel T7i and the 80D. It shares the sensor and AF system with both but adds the top LCD and secondary dial from the 80D. It is essentially an 80D in a lighter plastic body.
Good value used. Check Dual Pixel AF in live view, all 45 viewfinder AF points, and the top LCD. The 80D offers weather sealing at a slightly higher price. The 77D is a good choice for enthusiasts who want twin-dial control without the 80D's weight and cost.
