Canon's C100 Mark II — adds Dual Pixel AF and improved HDMI output to the affordable cinema camera.
The Canon EOS C100 Mark II launched in 2014 as a meaningful update to the original C100, adding Dual Pixel CMOS AF — the same reliable AF system from Canon DSLRs — and improving HDMI output to uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 for external recording.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF transforms the camera for run-and-gun work — smooth, reliable autofocus that the original C100 lacked. Same Super 35mm sensor with Canon Log. AVCHD recording internally with improved HDMI output. Canon colour science remains excellent.
Canon EF mount. Built-in OLED EVF and tiltable 3.5-inch LCD. Built-in ND filters (2/4/6 stops). XLR audio with phantom power. Dual SD card slots. 1040g body only. Ergonomic grip. All the original C100 features plus Dual Pixel AF.
Available used at budget to mid-range prices. The Dual Pixel AF was a transformative addition — making the C100 II significantly more practical for documentary and event work. The C200 added 4K. Still limited to 1080p internally. Excellent value for Canon EF cinema workflow with reliable AF.
