Canon's C100 Mark II — adds Dual Pixel AF and improved HDMI output to the affordable cinema camera.
The Canon EOS C100 Mark II was released in 2014 as the second-generation Super 35mm EF-mount cinema camera, adding Dual Pixel CMOS AF over the original C100. Super 35mm CMOS sensor. Maximum internal recording: 1080p AVCHD and MP4 — no 4K capability. Canon Log gamma. BP-955 battery. At approximately 1,125g with battery.
Super 35mm CMOS sensor. Maximum recording: 1080p internally — no 4K (the C100 Mark II is 1080p maximum). AVCHD (28 Mbps) + MP4 recording. Canon Log for extended dynamic range. Dual Pixel CMOS AF (primary upgrade over original C100). BP-955 battery. Approximately 1,125g with battery. Canon EF mount.
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF is the C100 Mark II's defining upgrade over the original C100: DPAF provides continuous, smooth AF tracking suited to cinema production, enabled by phase-detect pixel pairs across the central sensor area. The 1080p limitation is the C100 Mk II's primary specification constraint versus the contemporaneous C300 Mark II (which records 4K). Canon Log provides approximately 12 stops of dynamic range for colour grading.
On the used market the Canon EOS C100 Mark II is affordable as a compact Super 35mm EF cinema camera. Condition checks: Dual Pixel AF operation, Canon Log recording function, BP-955 battery health, EF mount condition. 1080p maximum — no 4K. Compatible with Canon EF and EF-S lenses (Super 35mm crop applies).
