Improved Canon M3 mirrorless with faster AF and 24.2MP, genuinely usable EF-M kit at budget pricing.
The Canon EOS M3 with EF-M 18-55mm IS STM is a compact mirrorless kit from 2015 that improved significantly over earlier EOS M bodies with faster Hybrid CMOS AF III autofocus. The M3 provided the first genuinely usable AF in the Canon EF-M mirrorless system.
The 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor delivers excellent Canon image quality, and the improved Hybrid AF provides faster focusing than the frustratingly slow original EOS M. The EF-M 18-55mm IS STM covers 29-88mm equivalent with stabilisation and quiet STM focus.
Build quality is compact Canon with a grip and optional EVF slot that provided more serious handling than earlier flat-bodied M models. The tilting touchscreen enables creative angles, and Wi-Fi/NFC add wireless sharing capability.
The M3 kit offers improved Canon mirrorless at affordable used pricing. The faster AF and 24.2MP sensor provide genuine capability, though the EF-M system is now discontinued. The Canon EF adapter extends lens options to the vast EF ecosystem.
