Canon's ultra-wide full-frame zoom — the RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM covering a dramatic 130-degree FOV.
The Canon RF 10-20mm f/4L IS STM was released in 2023 as Canon's widest rectilinear zoom ever. At 10mm on full frame, it provides an extraordinary 130-degree field of view — wider than any previous Canon rectilinear zoom. The L designation indicates Canon's highest optical tier. IS stabilisation and STM motor add practical value to this extreme ultra-wide.
Optical performance is excellent. Sharpness is very good throughout the range. The L-series optical design with fluorite and UD elements provides exceptional correction at extreme wide angles. IS provides approximately 5 stops of stabilisation — unusual and valuable for ultra-wide. Distortion is present at 10mm but well-managed by Canon's digital correction profiles.
Canon RF mount, full-frame. Filter thread uses a rear gel filter holder — the bulbous front element prevents standard filters. Weight is approximately 570 grams — relatively compact for the extreme coverage. Build quality is outstanding L-series with full weather sealing and fluorine coatings. The STM motor provides smooth, quiet autofocus for both stills and video.
Limited used availability as a newer lens. Check IS, AF, and clean front element. An extraordinary ultra-wide zoom — 10mm rectilinear on full frame was previously impossible. The L-series quality and IS stabilisation make it practical for professional architecture, interior, and landscape work. The Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 Art is the faster but smaller-aperture competitor.
