Canon's compact L-series ultra-wide zoom for RF-mount with IS and constant f/4.
The Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM launched in 2021 as Canon's ultra-wide zoom for the RF system. Its breakthrough feature is a flat front element that accepts standard 77mm screw-on filters — the first Canon 14mm zoom to accept front filters, enabling traditional ND and polariser use.
Optical quality is outstanding with excellent sharpness and well-controlled distortion. IS provides approximately 5.5 stops, extending to 7+ stops with IBIS bodies. Build is L-series with comprehensive weather sealing. At 540g it is remarkably compact for a 14mm ultra-wide zoom.
Canon RF mount only, 77mm filter thread. The ability to use standard screw-on filters at 14mm is a significant practical advantage for landscape photographers. The EF 11-24mm f/4L is wider but has a bulbous front element.
Good value used. Check IS operation, weather seals, and the flat front element for scratches. The 77mm filter thread shared with other L lenses is a practical advantage. One of the most practical ultra-wide zooms available.
