Canon's compact cinema camera — the XC15 with 1-inch sensor and fixed zoom.
The Canon XC15 is a professional 4K compact video camera from Canon's Cinema EOS XC series, positioned for broadcast journalism, documentary production, and corporate video. It records in the Cinema RAW Light format alongside MP4, with a fixed zoom lens for a self-contained broadcast-ready camera.
The XC15 features a 1-inch CMOS sensor, built-in 8.3–166mm equivalent zoom lens, 4K at up to 30fps and 1080p at 60fps, Cinema RAW Light recording, two XLR audio inputs with phantom power, a built-in ND filter wheel, and WiFi with streaming capability.
The fixed 1-inch sensor and integrated zoom lens make the XC15 a broadcast-friendly self-contained unit for run-and-gun documentary work where simplicity of operation and portability are priorities. Cinema RAW Light provides post-production flexibility. XLR inputs enable professional audio without adapters.
Test both XLR inputs with phantom power. Verify Cinema RAW Light recording to CFast cards. Cycle through ND filter positions. Check WiFi streaming function. Test 4K and 1080p recording modes. Inspect the zoom mechanism and fixed lens.
