Original Contax RTS from 1975 — the first camera to use the Contax/Yashica mount, co-designed with Porsche Design, with Zeiss TTL metering optics.

The Contax RTS (Real Time System, 1975) was the first camera produced by the Yashica–Zeiss collaboration that defined the Contax brand for the SLR market. Designed with input from Porsche Design Studios, it launched the Contax/Yashica (C/Y) mount and established the pairing of Zeiss optics with Japanese camera body manufacturing.

35mm SLR, C/Y mount (Contax/Yashica bayonet), aperture-priority and manual AE, TTL metering, metal focal-plane shutter (1–1/2000s + Bulb), Porsche Design industrial aesthetic.

The RTS was a flagship professional SLR at launch — Porsche Design's industrial styling and Zeiss optics combination was premium positioning in the 1975 market. All C/Y mount lenses (Zeiss T* and Yashica ML) are compatible. The C/Y mount was also used by Yashica bodies at lower price points. As the founding C/Y body, the RTS is a collector item; the Carl Zeiss lenses compatible with it are its primary value.

Test aperture-priority and manual AE modes. Check TTL metering accuracy. Inspect viewfinder screen for scratches. Test shutter at all speeds. Check C/Y mount coupling. Inspect light seals. Note: the RTS requires a 6V silver oxide PX28 battery.
