Fujifilm's 2005 entry compact — 5.2MP CCD, 3x 35-105mm zoom, optical finder, xD card, AA power
The Fujifilm FinePix A350 was an entry-level A-series compact announced ahead of PMA in February 2005, launched alongside the 4.1-megapixel A345. It was the higher-resolution of the pair and continued the A series formula of simple, affordable, AA-powered point-and-shoot cameras.
It carried a 5.2-megapixel CCD and a 3x zoom lens (5.8-17.4mm, 35-105mm equivalent, f/2.8-4.7). Framing was via a 1.7in LCD or an optical zoom viewfinder, and it recorded 320x240 movies at 15fps with sound. Storage was on xD-Picture Card and power came from two AA batteries.
As a used buy it is a basic daylight snapshot camera: fully automatic operation, modest LCD, and unhurried performance. The optical viewfinder is handy in bright sun, and AA power means it can be revived with a fresh set of rechargeables, making it a low-cost starter digicam.
The main running cost is the xD-Picture Card, a discontinued format that now sells for more than the camera often does — check a card is included. Otherwise inspect the LCD for bleed, confirm the flash charges, and expect early-2000s-style shutter lag and write times.
