Fujifilm's 2004 ultra-compact — 5.2MP CCD, 3.4x 38-130mm f/2.8 zoom, ISO 80, xD card, li-ion power
The Fujifilm FinePix F450 Zoom was announced on 17 June 2004 alongside the 4-megapixel F440, reaching UK retailers in August 2004. It was a card-deck-sized ultra-compact in the F series, and a few months later Fujifilm issued the restyled F455 with the same core specification in a body derived from the F810.
It used a 5.2-megapixel CCD with a 3.4x optical zoom covering 38-130mm equivalent, opening at f/2.8 at the wide end, and a 2.0in LCD. Base sensitivity of ISO 80 favoured bright light, storage was on xD-Picture Card, and power came from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, smaller and lighter overall than the model it replaced.
It suits pocket-carry snapshots and collectors of compact 2000s CCD cameras: the 38-130mm range is unusually long for the class and the wide f/2.8 aperture helps indoors at the short end. Controls are simple and automatic, with the punchy colour rendering these Fujifilm CCD compacts are sought out for.
Confirm the lithium-ion battery still holds charge and that some form of charger is present, as originals frequently went missing. xD-Picture Cards are discontinued and expensive, so a bundled card is a genuine bonus. Check the telescoping lens for grinding or stuck barrels and the LCD for age-related bleed.
