Fujifilm's slim 2004 pocket compact — 5.2MP, 3.4x zoom, ISO 80, xD card, NP-40 li-ion with cradle charging
The Fujifilm FinePix F455 Zoom was a slim pocket compact announced on 21 September 2004 and in UK shops from November 2004. It was a restyled sibling of the FinePix F450, taking its elongated body design from the F810, and sat in the style-led F series above the basic A-series models.
It paired a 5.2-megapixel sensor with a 3.4x optical zoom and a 2.0in LCD. Sensitivity started at a fine-grained ISO 80, storage was on xD-Picture Card (16MB to 512MB officially supported), and power came from a rechargeable NP-40 lithium-ion battery topped up via the supplied USB PictureCradle. PictBridge direct printing was built in.
It suits collectors of mid-2000s CCD compacts and anyone wanting a genuinely pocketable camera about the footprint of a deck of cards. Fully automatic operation keeps it simple; the modest zoom and screen reflect its 2004 vintage, but build and styling were a step above the price class.
Check the NP-40 battery holds charge — third-party cells are still made — and note the original cradle is often missing, so a standalone charger may be needed. xD cards are discontinued and expensive; confirm one is included. Inspect the lens for stuck extension and the LCD for scratches.
