Fujifilm's budget 18x superzoom bridge — 14MP CCD, 28-504mm equivalent, AA power; S2950-family retail variant
The FinePix S2995 was a regional retail variant in Fujifilm's S2900 line of budget superzoom bridge cameras of the early 2010s, closely related to the S2950 and sold alongside sibling designations such as the S2990. Fujifilm's own product archive lists it as a distinct, now discontinued, model.
It combines a 14-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CCD with an 18x Fujinon zoom covering a 28-504mm equivalent range at f/3.1-5.6. Framing is via a 3.0-inch LCD or an electronic viewfinder, video records at 720p30, and dual image stabilisation pairs sensor-shift with raised sensitivity, which can reach ISO 6400 at reduced resolution. Power comes from four AA batteries and images go to SD/SDHC cards.
It suits beginners and casual holiday or wildlife shooters who want everything from wide-angle to long telephoto in one box without changing lenses. The small CCD limits low-light quality and autofocus slows at the long end, but the daylight reach for the money remains the appeal on the used market.
AA power makes it easy to keep running and SD cards remain current, so checks are condition-based: inspect the lens for haze after years of storage, confirm the zoom runs its full travel, and look for faults on the LCD and electronic viewfinder. Verify which S2900-series name is actually on the body, as sellers mix S2950, S2970, S2980, S2990 and S2995 freely.
