Early Fujifilm rugged compact waterproof to 5m with GPS, affordable adventure-proof photography at budget pricing.
The Fujifilm FinePix XP30 is a rugged waterproof compact from 2011, one of the earlier models in Fujifilm's XP rugged camera line. Waterproof to 5 metres, shockproof from 1.5m drops, and freeze-proof to -10C, it provides adventure-proof photography for outdoor activities and water sports.
The 14.2-megapixel sensor and 5x Fujinon zoom cover 28-140mm equivalent with sensor-shift stabilisation. The camera includes built-in GPS for geotagging images with location data, and the 2.7-inch LCD provides viewing in various outdoor lighting conditions. HD video recording at 720p adds video capability.
Build quality provides sealed rugged construction with bright, colourful body designs that suit the active outdoor target market. The controls are simplified for operation with wet or gloved hands, and the overall design balances rugged protection with reasonable pocket portability.
The XP30 has minimal used market value but provides functional rugged camera capability at negligible cost. The 5m waterproof rating handles pools and beaches, and the GPS geotagging was a premium feature in 2011 rugged cameras. Later XP models offer deeper water ratings and more features.
