Fuji's updated wide autofocus 6x4.5 body — the GA645Wi, leaf shutter, auto exposure, 1997.
The Fujifilm GA645Wi is the updated wide-angle model in Fuji's autofocus GA645 medium-format series, released in 1997 as the revised counterpart to the GA645W. It kept the fixed wide-angle lens and automation of the wide GA body with the series' later refinements.
This is a fixed-lens medium-format camera producing nominal 6x4.5 frames on 120 or 220 roll film. It uses autofocus with a fixed wide-angle lens carrying a leaf shutter in the lens rather than a focal-plane shutter. It provides built-in metering with automatic exposure, a data display, and it is battery-dependent for autofocus, metering and shutter operation.
The wide fixed lens and automation suit travel, landscape and documentary photographers who want a broad view on a medium-format negative without manual focusing. It is compact and quick in use, giving up the deliberate control of a manual rangefinder in exchange for speed and convenience.
For a used example, confirm the autofocus and meter respond and that the electronics power up on fresh batteries, as the camera cannot operate with a dead battery. Inspect the fixed wide lens for haze and fungus and test the leaf shutter for accuracy. Check film-advance, the LCD display for missing segments and the data functions, and read the frame counter to estimate usage.
