The Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR is a fast short-telephoto prime for the GFX medium format system, announced in January 2017 and released in June 2017 as part of the first wave of GF lenses accompanying the GFX 50S. With an 87mm full-frame equivalent field of view and an f/2 maximum aperture, it has served since launch as the system's dedicated portrait lens and remains the fastest telephoto prime in the GF range.
The optical formula is 14 elements in 9 groups with four ED elements, focusing via a linear motor (the LM in the name) for quiet, quick autofocus. It carries a physical aperture ring (R) and full weather resistance (WR) with dust and moisture sealing plus freeze resistance to -10°C. The lens weighs 1,010 g, measures around 125.5mm long, takes 77mm filters and focuses to 0.9 m. There is no optical stabilisation, so it relies on IBIS in later GFX bodies.
UK used demand is strong because it produces a rendering that full-frame 85mm lenses cannot quite match, pairing the larger 44x33mm sensor with genuine f/2 speed for very shallow depth of field. It has no direct rival inside the GF system, with the GF 80mm f/1.7 the nearest alternative, and it is a common second purchase for GFX 100S and 100 II owners. Used prices sit well below the roughly £2,600 new price, which makes clean examples move quickly.
When buying used, check the aperture ring clicks evenly and the C (command) position engages, listen for smooth linear-motor focus with no grinding, and inspect the front element for coating marks since the lens is often used outdoors at weddings. Confirm the deep plastic hood is present, as replacements are costly, and check the weather-sealing gasket at the mount is intact. At just over a kilogram it is often carried on straps, so look for tripod-collar-free wear on the barrel finish. UK used examples typically trade around £1,300-1,900 depending on condition and box.
