Fujifilm's ultra-wide GFX medium format prime, covering 18mm equivalent on a huge sensor.
The Fujifilm GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR is an ultra-wide prime for Fujifilm's GFX medium format mirrorless system, launched in 2017. Providing an 18mm equivalent perspective on the 43.8x32.9mm sensor, it offers dramatic wide-angle coverage with the depth, detail, and tonal gradation that only medium format can deliver.
Optical quality is very good with sharp results across the large image circle. The aspherical elements control distortion well for such a wide angle. Autofocus via a linear motor is reasonably fast and quiet. Build is weather-sealed and robust. The lens is large by APS-C standards but typical for medium format.
Fujifilm G mount only, 82mm filter thread. The GF 20-35mm f/4 R WR zoom covers a wider perspective if needed. This lens is part of a comprehensive GFX lens system that now spans from 20mm to 500mm equivalent.
Specialised used market. Check AF motor, weather seals, and front element. Medium format wide-angle lenses hold their value due to limited supply. An essential lens for GFX landscape and architecture photographers.
