Fujifilm's current entry instant camera — Instax Mini film, 60mm lens, auto exposure, twist-lens close-up mode, AA power
The Instax Mini 12 is Fujifilm's mainstream instant camera, released in March 2023 as the successor to the Instax Mini 11. It prints credit-card-sized Instax Mini film and is sold in pastel colours including Blossom Pink, Clay White, Lilac Purple, Pastel Blue and Mint Green.
It uses a 60mm lens with automatic exposure, shutter speeds from 1/2 to 1/250sec and a built-in flash that fires with every shot. Twisting the lens powers the camera on and switches to close-up mode, which focuses down to 0.3m and adds a selfie mirror; normal focus starts at 0.5m. It runs on two AA batteries — good for roughly ten packs of film — produces 62x46mm images that develop in about 90 seconds, and weighs 306g.
It is aimed at parties, gifts and casual snapshots: point, shoot and hand over the print. The always-on flash and simple automatic exposure mean little creative control, but also very few ways to ruin a shot, which is exactly the appeal for beginners and younger users.
Because it is a current model still sold new, used savings are modest — compare any listing against fresh retail prices before bidding. Instax Mini film is cheap and widely stocked. Check the film door closes cleanly, the exposure counter works, the rollers are free of residue from burst film packs, and the lens barrel twists smoothly.
