Fujifilm's premium retro compact with an optical viewfinder and manual zoom ring.

The Fujifilm X10 was released in autumn 2011 as a premium fixed-zoom compact with manual controls, targeting enthusiasts upgrading from standard compacts. The 28-112mm f/2.0-2.8 equivalent zoom with a fast maximum aperture and a bright optical tunnel viewfinder (OVF) distinguished it from typical point-and-shoot compacts of the era. The 2/3-inch EXR CMOS sensor — larger than the 1/2.3-inch standard for travel zooms — provided improved image quality. The X10 used Fujifilm's EXR technology allowing different sensor operating modes.

The 2/3-inch EXR CMOS sensor provides 12MP at maximum resolution. The built-in zoom covers 28-112mm equivalent at f/2.0-2.8 — fast at the wide end for subject separation and low-light capability. EXR technology provides selectable modes: high resolution (12MP), high sensitivity/low noise (6MP with dual-pixel merging), and wide dynamic range. The optical tunnel viewfinder provides basic framing at approximately 85% coverage. 1080p video is supported. Body weight approximately 350g with battery and card, single SD/SDHC/SDXC slot.

The X10's practical appeal at launch was the manual control layout and optical viewfinder in a premium compact form — a combination that smartphone-replacement P&S cameras did not provide. The 2/3-inch sensor delivers better image quality than 1/2.3-inch alternatives. The f/2.0 maximum aperture at 28mm equivalent provides subject separation and low-light capability unusual for a zoom compact. The EXR sensor's high-sensitivity mode merges adjacent pixels for cleaner high-ISO output at the cost of resolution.

On the used market the X10 is affordable as a classic Fujifilm enthusiast compact. Condition checks: optical viewfinder for any dust or fogging, lens barrel zoom mechanism for smooth operation, and battery (NP-50) health. The X20 (2013) updated the EXR sensor to a new generation with improved performance. The Fujifilm XF10 (2018) brought APS-C X-Trans sensor to a compact form at lower resolution. Fixed lens; no interchangeable mount.
