Fujifilm's new standard zoom replacing the XF 18-55mm with faster aperture and weather sealing.
The Fujifilm XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR launched in 2024 as a modern replacement for the long-running XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS. With weather sealing, a wider 24mm equivalent starting point, and an updated optical formula, it represents Fujifilm's evolved vision of what a kit zoom should be.
Optical quality is improved over the XF 18-55mm with updated elements and coatings. The f/2.8 wide-end aperture matches the predecessor. Build is weather sealed, a significant upgrade over the non-WR XF 18-55mm. There is no optical stabilisation, relying on body IBIS on X-T and X-H bodies.
Fujifilm X mount only, 58mm filter thread. This lens starts at 16mm (24mm equiv) versus the XF 18-55mm's 18mm (27mm equiv), providing a meaningfully wider perspective. The trade-off is no OIS — only usable with IBIS bodies or in good light on non-IBIS bodies.
Very new with limited used availability. Check weather seals and AF motor. The lack of OIS means this lens pairs best with IBIS-equipped bodies like the X-T4, X-T5, X-H2, or X-H2S. On non-IBIS bodies the older XF 18-55mm with OIS is a better choice.
