Fujifilm's tiny weather-sealed wide-angle prime, the most compact WR lens in the XF lineup.
The Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2.8 R WR is part of Fujifilm's compact weather-resistant prime trio alongside the XF 27mm f/2.8 and XF 50mm f/2 R WR. Providing a classic 35mm equivalent wide-angle perspective, it is one of the most compact weather-sealed primes in any mirrorless system.
Optical quality is very good with sharp results from f/4 and acceptable wide-open performance. Build is metal with full weather sealing when paired with a weather-sealed body. Autofocus is driven by a linear motor and is fast and quiet.
Fujifilm X mount only, 43mm filter thread. The XF 23mm f/2 R WR offers one stop more light gathering with similar size and weather sealing. The XF 23mm f/1.4 R is faster still but lacks weather sealing. The f/2.8 version trades speed for the most compact form factor.
Moderate value used. Check weather seals and AF motor. The XF 23mm f/2 R WR is generally the better buy at the same price with its wider aperture. The f/2.8 is only preferable when absolute minimum size is the priority.
