Fujifilm's weather-sealed pancake prime, the thinnest WR lens in the X-mount system.
The Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR is the second generation of Fujifilm's pancake prime, launched in 2021. At just 23mm thick and 84g, it is the thinnest and lightest XF lens. The WR designation adds weather resistance, and the optical formula has been updated for improved sharpness over the original.
Optical quality is improved over the first generation with better corner sharpness and reduced chromatic aberration. At f/2.8 it is not exceptionally fast but provides a one-stop advantage over kit zooms at the same focal length. The aperture ring has a smooth feel. Build is metal with weather sealing.
Fujifilm X mount only, 39mm filter thread. The original XF 27mm f/2.8 (non-WR) is cheaper but lacks weather sealing and has softer optics. The 27mm focal length provides a 41mm equivalent perspective — slightly wider than 50mm, slightly tighter than 35mm.
Good value used. Check the aperture ring and weather seals. The tiny 39mm filter thread is uncommon. This lens transforms X-Pro and X-E bodies into truly pocketable cameras. Excellent for street photography and everyday carry.
