GoPro's first 360-degree camera — 5.2K spherical video with OverCapture reframing.
The GoPro Fusion launched in 2017 as GoPro's first 360-degree camera, capturing 5.2K 30fps spherical video from dual fisheye lenses. It introduced GoPro's OverCapture feature — essentially the shoot-then-reframe workflow that became standard in 360 cameras.
Records 5.2K 30fps and 3K 60fps 360 video with GoPro-level stabilisation applied to spherical footage. 18MP 360 photos. OverCapture allows extracting standard 1080p footage from any angle. Protune available for manual control. GPS and orientation data recorded.
Dual-lens design with two microSD cards — one per lens. Waterproof to 5m without housing. No touchscreen — controlled via GoPro app. USB-C charging. Voice control. 220g. Requires stitching in software — not always seamless at the stitch line.
Available used very cheaply. The Fusion was GoPro's learning experience in 360 — the Max improved dramatically with single-card, better stitching, and touchscreen. The dual-card and software stitching requirements are cumbersome. Only interesting at very low prices for experimenting with 360.
