GoPro's first 360-degree camera — 5.2K spherical video with OverCapture reframing.
The GoPro Fusion was released in 2017/2018 as GoPro's spherical 360-degree camera, featuring dual 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensors producing 18MP total spherical output. Maximum video is 5.2K (5228×2624) at 30fps; 3K at 60fps. Natively waterproof to 5m. At 226g. Four microphones capture directional spherical audio.
Dual 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensors. 18MP spherical photo (5228×2624). 5.2K/30fps (spherical); 3K/60fps (spherical). 5m waterproof natively. 4-channel spatial audio (4 microphones). 226g. USB-C. Dual SD card slots (one per lens). Fixed dual-lens spherical design; no interchangeable mount.
The Fusion's 5.2K capture provides resolution headroom for reframing in post: the full spherical capture is reframed to a conventional directional view using OverCapture, with the unused portion of the 360° providing stabilisation headroom. The four-microphone spatial audio records directional sound that follows the reframe in post-production. The Fusion succeeded GoPro's earlier Omni multi-camera rig as a single-unit spherical solution.
On the used market the GoPro Fusion is affordable as a vintage spherical action camera. Condition checks: both lens elements for scratches, battery condition (Fusion proprietary cell), waterproof seals, dual SD card slot function. Fixed spherical optics; no interchangeable mount.
