GoPro's GP2-powered action camera with HyperSmooth 4.0 and improved low-light performance.
The GoPro Hero 10 Black was released in September 2021 as GoPro's first action camera to use the GP2 processor — a new chip doubling the processing speed of the Hero 9's GP1, enabling 4K/120fps video, 5.3K/60fps, and 2.7K/240fps slow motion in a waterproof 10m body. HyperSmooth 4.0 electronic image stabilisation provides improved horizon levelling and stabilised output for both handheld and mounted use. The front colour display carried over from the Hero 9, enabling self-facing framing. Body weight approximately 153g.
The GP2 processor enables 5.3K video at up to 60fps, 4K at up to 120fps, 2.7K at up to 240fps for ultra-slow-motion sequences, and 1080p at up to 240fps. Still captures at 23MP. HyperSmooth 4.0 provides electronic image stabilisation with AutoBoost mode for maximum stabilisation at a slight crop. Waterproof to 10m without housing. The dual-display design includes both a rear touchscreen and a front colour display. Single SD/microSD card slot. Battery is removable; the 1720mAh Enduro battery provides improved performance in cold conditions.
The GP2 processor's 4K/120fps capability is the Hero 10's defining practical improvement over the Hero 9: 4× slow motion at full 4K resolution enables significantly more flexible post-production from action footage. HyperSmooth 4.0 provides smooth output for action sports and handheld vlog work. The 5.3K mode enables downscale to 4K with pixel headroom for reframing in editing. Front display enables self-facing vlogging framing — a workflow increasingly common in content creation.
On the used market the Hero 10 Black is available at affordable to mid-tier action camera prices, with the Hero 11, 12, and 13 representing later generations. Condition checks: both displays for scratches and dead pixels, lens element for marks, waterproof sealing at battery and SD doors, and battery health — removable batteries degrade with charge cycles. Compatible with GoPro Hero 9/10/11/12 accessories and mounts; the Hero 13 moved to a different battery format.
