GoPro's latest 360 camera — updated sensor and processing for improved spherical video capture.
The GoPro MAX2 (2025) is the successor to the 2019 GoPro Max 360° action camera, featuring true 8K spherical video (8K resolution across the full 360° sphere), 29MP 360° photos, and twist-and-go replaceable lens modules — the first GoPro Max with field-replaceable lenses. Six built-in microphones for 360° spatial audio. HyperSmooth stabilisation. Natively waterproof. At $499 at launch.
True 8K spherical video. 29MP 360° photos. Six built-in microphones for 360° spatial audio. Twist-and-go replaceable glass lenses. HyperSmooth stabilisation. Natively waterproof. Compatible with Insta360/GoPro 360° mounting ecosystem. GoPro Quik app for editing and reframing.
The 8K spherical resolution enables higher-resolution crop output when reframing to traditional non-360° perspectives: cropping to 4K output from 8K 360° source provides more flexibility for digital pan/tilt/zoom in post than the 2019 Max's 5.6K. The twist-and-go replaceable lenses address the scratch vulnerability of the 2019 Max's fixed fisheye optics — a frequently noted limitation of the original.
On the used market the GoPro MAX2 is a 2025 product with very limited used availability. Condition checks: lens module condition (note: replaceable), waterproof seal integrity, and battery health. Confirm this is the MAX2 (8K, CHDHZ-311) versus the MAX 360 (CHDHZ-203, same 5.6K as 2019 original). Fixed dual fisheye lenses (replaceable); no interchangeable standard mount.
