The Carl Zeiss Makro-Planar 120mm f/4 CFE is a high-performance macro lens for the Hasselblad V system (500-series cameras), optimised for close-up and macro photography on 6×6cm medium format film. The CFE designation indicates compatibility with Hasselblad's 200-series electronic focal-plane shutter bodies in addition to standard 500-series leaf shutter bodies. The Makro-Planar formula delivers excellent flat-field performance for 1:5 to 1:1 macro ratios.

120mm focal length, f/4 maximum aperture, macro-optimised floating element formula, Hasselblad V bayonet mount, CFE electronic contacts for 200-series body compatibility, 1:5 to 1:1 reproduction range.

The 120mm focal length provides a comfortable working distance for macro photography at 1:1, particularly for biological and product subjects. The floating element formula is corrected for close focus distances rather than infinity, giving superior sharpness at macro ratios. Compatible with Hasselblad extension tubes for ratios beyond 1:1. One of the finest medium format macro lenses available.

Test focus at close (macro), mid, and infinity distances — the floating element formula means sharpness at infinity should also be confirmed, as these lenses are occasionally found with a decentred element.
