Hasselblad's improved mirrorless medium format — 50MP, better AF and touchscreen over the original X1D.
The Hasselblad X1D II 50C was released in 2019 as the second-generation X System medium-format mirrorless camera, featuring a 50MP 43.8×32.9mm medium-format BSI CMOS sensor. At 766g with battery and card it is the lightest interchangeable-lens medium-format digital camera. XCD mount provides access to Hasselblad's XCD lens system. At launch the X1D II was stills-only; firmware 1.2.0 added 2.7K/30fps video recording.
The 50MP 43.8×32.9mm BSI CMOS sensor provides approximately 1.7x the sensor area of a full-frame camera. XCD mount accepts all Hasselblad XCD lenses. No in-body image stabilisation. 2.7K/30fps video available on updated firmware. Battery life approximately 400 shots. Body weight approximately 766g with battery and card. Single XQD card slot.
The X1D II's 766g is the lightest available medium-format interchangeable-lens camera — lighter than many full-frame pro DSLRs. The 50MP medium-format sensor provides tonal range, fine detail at large print sizes, and the rendering character associated with larger sensor dimensions. The XCD native lens system provides Hasselblad optical quality matched to the sensor format. The single XQD card slot and absence of IBIS reflect the primarily studio and slow-photography use case.
On the used market the Hasselblad X1D II 50C commands a significant premium as a medium-format Hasselblad system body. Condition checks: XCD mount for physical damage, Hasselblad proprietary battery health, XQD card slot contacts, and weather sealing at port covers. The X2D 100C provides 100MP and IBIS as the system successor. Compatible with all Hasselblad XCD mount lenses.
