Kodak Advantix C850 — APS compact with zoom lens, a higher Advantix C-series model, circa 2000
The Kodak Advantix C850 was a zoom compact in Kodak's Advantix C-series, sold as part of the broader Advantix range built around the Advanced Photo System that Kodak launched in 1996 to simplify film loading for casual photographers.
It takes APS film cartridges, offering a choice between classic, HDTV and panoramic print formats without reloading, and pairs a zoom lens with autofocus, autoexposure metering and a built-in flash. Power comes from a compact lithium battery typical of Advantix zoom models.
As one of the higher-numbered C-series bodies, the C850 offered more zoom range than entry models like the C650, though it stopped short of the ix-branded cameras' magnetic data-recording features.
With APS film now scarce, the C850 functions mainly as a period collectible rather than a working camera for most buyers. Check the zoom lens for smooth travel, the film door hinge and seal, and the battery contacts for corrosion.
