Konica's early Konishiroku Hexanon normal — the 50mm f/1.9 in Leica Thread Mount.
The Hexanon 50mm f/1.9 in Leica Thread Mount was made under the Konishiroku name, the company that later became Konica, from its early rangefinder-lens era. It is a vintage Japanese screw-mount normal that brought Konishiroku's optical work to L39 bodies, and it sits among the classic fast fifties of its period.
It is a manual-focus rangefinder-coupled lens with a 50mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.9. As a normal lens it uses a compact design typical of post-war Japanese fifties, and it couples to the rangefinder for accurate focus on screw-mount and adapted bodies.
The 50mm focal length gives a natural standard perspective for street, portrait and general use, and at f/1.9 there is room for low light and moderate background separation. Early Hexanon normals are regarded for even rendering, with sharpness building across the frame as the lens is stopped down.
As a vintage optic, used copies should be checked for haze, fungus, cleaning marks and coating wear, along with the focus feel and any oil on the aperture blades. Confirm the aperture ring is positive and the helicoid smooth. It adapts to Leica M with an LTM-to-M ring and to mirrorless cameras via an adapter.
