Konica's fast AR tele — the 200mm f/3.5 Hexanon, half a stop brighter than the f/4.
The Konica Hexanon AR 200mm f/3.5 was the faster medium telephoto prime for the Konica AR bayonet on the Autoreflex system. A half-stop brighter than the f/4, it gave a little more light for a brighter viewfinder and faster shutter speeds at the 200mm reach.
This manual-focus Konica AR lens has a 200mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/3.5, half a stop faster than the f/4 variant. It is a telephoto prime with a narrow, compressed field. Element count, filter thread and minimum focus are not verified here and are omitted rather than invented for accuracy.
The brighter f/3.5 aperture helps at the long end, giving faster shutter speeds for moving wildlife and sports and a marginally shallower rendering for isolating subjects. The strong perspective compression at 200mm keeps distant subjects large in the frame against smoothly blurred backgrounds.
The faster 200mm is less common than the f/4 and generally priced a step higher. Check the elements for haze, fungus and coating scratches, confirm the diaphragm is oil-free, and feel the long helicoid. It adapts to mirrorless via an AR adapter, though its size makes a tripod or monopod helpful.
