Konica's early AR normal — the 52mm f/1.8 Hexanon, a standard prime from the system's first years.
The Konica Hexanon AR 52mm f/1.8 was an early standard prime for the Konica AR bayonet, one of the normal lenses supplied with Autoreflex bodies before the 50mm became the settled focal length. Its slightly longer 52mm reading places it among the older normals in the AR line.
This is a manual-focus Konica AR lens with a 52mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.8. It functions as a standard prime with a field of view close to that of a 50mm. Element count, filter thread and minimum focus distance are not verified here and are left out rather than guessed to keep the entry reliable.
As a standard prime the 52mm gives a natural perspective suited to everyday shooting, portraits and low-light work, much like a conventional 50mm. Its slightly longer focal length narrows the field just a touch, which some find flattering for head-and-shoulders portraits at moderate distances.
The 52mm Hexanon is a less common early normal and appeals to collectors tracing the AR system's history. Check for haze, fungus and coating wear, confirm the aperture is dry and snappy, and feel the focus ring. Like other AR normals it adapts readily to mirrorless bodies with a simple AR adapter.
