Laowa's fast ultra-wide for MFT — the 10mm f/2 with near-zero distortion.
The Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D is a compact fast ultra-wide prime for Micro Four Thirds. At 10mm on MFT, it provides a 20mm equivalent with virtually zero barrel distortion — keeping straight lines straight at extreme wide angles. The f/2 speed is very fast for an ultra-wide, enabling astrophotography and low-light shooting on MFT.
Optical performance follows Laowa's ultra-wide expertise. The near-zero distortion at 20mm equivalent is the primary achievement. Sharpness is good in the centre from f/2 and very good by f/4. The fast f/2 aperture enables astrophotography on MFT — a significant capability for the small-sensor system. Coma control is reasonable for night sky work.
Micro Four Thirds mount, manual focus only. Filter thread is 46mm — impressively small for an ultra-wide. Weight is approximately 130 grams — extremely compact. Build quality is solid metal. No electronics. The Zero-D correction at this focal length and aperture in such a compact package is a genuine engineering achievement.
Available at moderate prices. Check smooth focus and clean optics. An outstanding ultra-wide for MFT — the zero distortion, fast f/2, and 130-gram weight create an extraordinary specification. The f/2 enables MFT astrophotography. The compact size suits the MFT system philosophy of extreme portability.
