Laowa's ultra-wide rectilinear for Nikon Z — the 14mm f/4 with virtually zero distortion.

The Laowa 14mm f/4 Zero-D FF RL is a compact ultra-wide rectilinear prime for Nikon Z mount featuring Laowa's signature near-zero distortion correction. At 14mm on full frame with virtually no barrel distortion, it is extraordinary for architecture and real estate photography where straight lines must remain straight. The RL designation indicates rangefinder-like compact design.

Optical performance prioritises distortion correction above all else. The near-zero distortion at 14mm on full frame is genuinely remarkable. Sharpness is good in the centre and respectable in the corners when stopped down. The f/4 maximum aperture is modest but adequate for the typical stopped-down use in architecture. Vignetting is present wide open.

Nikon Z mount, manual focus only. Filter thread is 52mm — impressively small for a 14mm lens, allowing standard filter use. Weight is approximately 228 grams — extremely compact. Build quality is solid metal. No autofocus or electronic communication. The compact RL design makes this one of the smallest 14mm lenses available.

Available on the used market at moderate prices. Check focus ring and front element. The combination of 14mm, zero distortion, standard filter thread, and tiny size is genuinely unique. An outstanding architecture and real estate lens. The f/4 aperture limits astrophotography use. Manual focus is expected at this focal length.
