Laowa's extreme ultra-wide for Sony — the 9mm f/5.6 W-Dreamer, same as ID 3521.

The Laowa FFII 9mm f/5.6 W-Dreamer for Sony E is the Sony mount version of the extraordinary ultra-wide described under ID 3521. At 9mm rectilinear on full frame with near-zero distortion, it is the widest non-fisheye lens available. The 135-degree FOV with straight lines is an extraordinary engineering achievement from Venus Optics.

Same outstanding distortion correction as ID 3521. Near-zero barrel distortion at 9mm on full frame. Sharpness good in centre, corners soften at extreme edges. The f/5.6 is very slow but at 9mm, DOF is extensive regardless. The achievement is the distortion correction — no other lens delivers rectilinear 9mm on full frame.

Sony FE mount. Manual focus only — no electronics. Rear magnetic filter holder. Weight approximately 350 grams — compact for 9mm FF. Build quality solid metal. Same optical design as ID 3521 in Sony mount. Benefits from Sony IBIS for stabilised handheld ultra-wide shooting.
