Leica's accessory EVF for M cameras — adds electronic viewfinder to rangefinders lacking one.
The Leica M EV1 was released in 2025 as a digital full-frame rangefinder-style body for Leica M-mount — the first M-system camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF) instead of an optical rangefinder. 60MP BSI CMOS full-frame sensor. 5.76-megapixel EVF. 64GB internal storage. Electronic shutter up to 1/16,000s; mechanical shutter up to 1/4,000s. ISO 64–50,000. Continuous shooting: 4.5fps. Battery: BP-SCL7 (approximately 237 shots via EVF). Supports Content Credentials for image authenticity. Confirmed from Leica USA official.
60MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor. Integrated 5.76MP OLED EVF (0.76× magnification, 60fps refresh) — replaces the optical rangefinder of traditional M cameras. 64GB internal storage. 2.95-inch touchscreen LCD (2.3M dots). Leica M mount (full-frame). Electronic shutter 1/16,000s; mechanical 1/4,000s.
The M EV1 marks a departure from Leica's traditional M rangefinder design: replacing the optical coinciding-patch rangefinder with an integrated EVF enables focus confirmation via magnification and peaking for manual-focus M lenses without a separate live view display. The 60MP sensor is shared with the M11 series.
On the used market the Leica M EV1 is available at Leica M digital body pricing. Condition checks: EVF display quality, 60MP sensor for dust, touchscreen function. Note: 2025 product — post knowledge cutoff; verify specifications. Compatible with all Leica M-mount lenses.
