Leica's Q2 in kevlar green — Reporter Edition with scratch-resistant coating for field work.
The Leica Q2 Reporter Edition was released approximately 2021 as a special-edition variant of the Q2, featuring an aramid fiber body armour in place of the standard leatherette. The imaging specifications are identical to the standard Q2: 47.3MP full-frame CMOS, fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH, 4K/30fps. At 718g. IP52 weather sealing.
47.3MP full-frame CMOS (standard Q2 sensor). Fixed Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens (identical to standard Q2). DCI 4K/24fps; UHD 4K/30fps; 1080p/120fps. IP52 weather sealing. 718g. No interchangeable mount. Special edition cosmetics: aramid fiber body armour (no red Leica dot, no top plate engraving).
The Reporter Edition differs from the standard Q2 solely in cosmetics and body material: the aramid fiber (Kevlar-type synthetic) outer surface is UV-resistant and has a distinctive matte appearance. The 'Reporter' designation references field journalist usage. All sensor, lens, video, and performance specifications are shared with the standard Q2.
On the used market the Leica Q2 Reporter Edition commands a small premium over the standard Q2 for the special edition cosmetics. Condition checks: lens element for marks (same 28mm f/1.7 Summilux as standard Q2), IP52 weather sealing integrity, battery health. Fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7; no interchangeable mount.
