Leica's original SL mirrorless — 24MP full-frame with outstanding EVF and Maestro II processor.
The Leica SL (Typ 601) was released in 2015 as the first Leica SL-system mirrorless body and the founding L-Mount body, featuring a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor. 4K UHD at 30fps and DCI 4K at 24fps internal. 1080/120fps. No IBIS — the SL2 (2019) was the first Leica SL with IBIS. BP-SCL4 battery. At approximately 847g with battery.
24.2MP full-frame CMOS (no OLPF). 4K UHD (3840×2160) at 30fps; DCI 4K (4096×2160) at 24fps; 1080p up to 120fps. No IBIS. BP-SCL4 battery (1860mAh — shared with SL2 and Q2). Approximately 847g with battery. L-Mount full-frame.
The Leica SL Typ 601 established the L-Mount and the SL system in 2015: its high-resolution EVF (4.4M-dot, 0.8x) was among the largest in any mirrorless camera at launch, and the weather-sealed magnesium alloy body targeted professional photojournalists. The absence of IBIS was compensated by compatible OIS lenses in the SL system. The L-Mount Alliance (Leica, Panasonic, Sigma) was announced in 2018, expanding the Typ 601's lens compatibility.
On the used market the Leica SL Typ 601 is available at Leica professional mirrorless pricing. Condition checks: BP-SCL4 battery health, 4K recording function, L-Mount contacts. No IBIS. Compatible with all L-Mount lenses: Leica SL/TL/CL series, Panasonic S, and Sigma FP/FP L.
