Leica's video-optimised L-Mount mirrorless — 24.6MP BSI sensor, 5K video, Dual ISO, IBIS.
The Leica SL2-S (2020) is the video-optimised variant of the SL2, with a 24.6MP BSI CMOS sensor tuned for high ISO and video performance rather than the SL2's 47MP resolution. It offers 4K 60p 10-bit video, 5K 30p, and Leica's first implementation of Dual Base ISO.
Excellent high-ISO performance from the 24.6MP BSI sensor. 5K 30p and 4K 60p 10-bit internal recording. IBIS 5.5-stop stabilisation. Contrast-detect AF only — the main limitation. Dual card slots — CFexpress plus SD.
Leica L-Mount — compatible with Sigma and Panasonic lenses. Weather sealed. 5.76M-dot OLED EVF. 931g body. Maestro III processor. HDMI full-size output.
Limited used availability. The SL3 added phase-detect AF — a major upgrade. The Panasonic S5 II offers similar specs at a fraction of the cost through L-Mount Alliance. The SL2-S is for those who want Leica build and colour science.
