Leica's understated SL2-S — Reporter Edition with Kevlar-like coating for field use.
The Leica SL2-S Reporter is a limited-edition variant of the Leica SL2-S full-frame mirrorless camera, featuring a ruggedised black-finish body treatment designed for photojournalism and field use. Released approximately 2022-2023 as a special edition. L-Mount.
24MP full-frame CMOS sensor (same as SL2-S). L-Mount. IBIS (5-axis, approximately 5.5 stops). 4K/60fps video. Dual SD card slots. IP54 equivalent weather sealing. Special ruggedised black body finish (versus the SL2-S standard silver-and-black design). At approximately 900g.
The Reporter edition is the SL2-S with a surface treatment and branding associated with Leica's photojournalism heritage — functionally identical to the standard SL2-S in sensor, AF, and video capabilities. The L-Mount Alliance provides access to the full Leica SL, Panasonic S, and Sigma FP/FP-L lens ecosystem. The 24MP sensor (versus the SL2's 47MP) prioritises speed and high ISO performance over resolution.
On the used market the Leica SL2-S Reporter is a special-edition full-frame L-Mount mirrorless body. Condition checks: L-Mount contacts, weather sealing integrity, IBIS function, dual SD slot contacts, special finish for wear or marks. The Reporter edition may carry a collector premium over standard SL2-S pricing.
