Mamiya's twin-lens reflex — TLR medium format with interchangeable lens pairs for 6x6 film.
The Mamiya C220 was released approximately 1968 as a compact twin-lens reflex (TLR) 6×6cm medium-format camera with interchangeable lens pairs. The C220 is lighter and simpler than the C330 series. Interchangeable Mamiya TLR lens sets (viewing + taking lenses in paired units). 6×6cm format.
6×6cm (56×56mm) medium-format format. Twin-lens reflex design (separate viewing and taking lenses). Interchangeable Mamiya TLR lens pair system. Bellows focusing. No exposure meter (external required). 120 and 220 film formats.
The C220 is Mamiya's entry-level C-series TLR: the paired taking + viewing lens design provides waist-level composition with a ground-glass screen. Interchangeable lens sets allow different focal lengths (55mm, 65mm, 80mm, 105mm, 135mm, 180mm, 250mm pairs). The TLR design provides vibration-free shooting as there is no mirror slap — the reflex mirror is in the viewing lens assembly only.
On the used market the Mamiya C220 is affordable as a compact medium-format TLR. Condition checks: both viewing and taking lens elements for marks and fungus, bellows for light leaks, shutter speeds, film transport mechanism.
