Nikon 1 V1 with EVF and VR zoom, fastest AF of 2011 in a discontinued but capable 1-inch mirrorless.
The Nikon 1 V1 with 10-30mm VR is the EVF-equipped variant of Nikon's 1-inch sensor mirrorless from 2011, providing eye-level composition with the fastest AF of any mirrorless at launch. The V1's built-in EVF distinguished it from the screen-only J-series.
The 10-30mm VR covers 27-81mm equivalent with VR stabilisation, and the Nikon 1's phase-detection AF provided DSLR-rivalling focus speed. The 10.1-megapixel 1-inch sensor delivers good base-ISO quality, and the 60fps burst in electronic shutter mode was unprecedented.
Build quality is quality Nikon with metal construction and built-in EVF. The V1 provided the most serious Nikon 1 experience with the viewfinder that casual J-series bodies lacked, though the system was discontinued in 2018.
The V1 kit offers the most capable Nikon 1 experience at negligible used cost. The built-in EVF and fast AF provide a more serious shooting experience, though the orphaned Nikon 1 mount limits future lens investment.
